Music Video Miracle: “Sing for the King”
I firmly believe that God hears and answers our prayers in miraculous ways. Sometimes miracles come in the form of kindness and generosity of a stranger.
When Allie and I were getting the music video for “Sing for the King” ready, we realized it was missing something. We didn’t know quite what that something was, but we knew it needed something a little extra.
Josh, who was editing the video, suggested that we look at stock footage to see if we could find something that we could weave throughout to help tell the story. We went through dozens of options on multiple websites, but nothing felt right.
We contemplated having Josh film closeups of an olive wood nativity set. We talked about having some cute little girls tell the story through dance. We even tossed the idea of frosting sugar cookies around–this one lasted a whole of 5 seconds. But none of those ideas felt like the right fit.
As we prayed and pondered and searched endlessly for something special, we stumbled upon videos of a nativity that we hadn’t seen before by Mark Andersen. It was STUNNING work. I couldn’t believe how perfectly the footage blended with our video–almost like we had planned the video around this footage.
We discovered that Mark lives in the same county as I do, and after a Google search, we found his contact information. We sent him an email asking if we could pay to use some of his footage in our video, not knowing that he would see it or be open to the idea.
He wrote back within a couple of hours, and his answer was an encouraging YES. He sent us to a website where we could see even more of the shots from that shoot. It was perfect. But we noticed the price for those video clips and knew that it was very much out of our budget.
After compiling the list of shots we wanted and making a very crude edit of how they would work in the video, we wrote him back and asked what he would charge us. His answer left me in tears. His price was less than 1/10th of what we had seen on the website.
I don’t know if Mark knew that he was the answer to our prayers that day, but I am so grateful that he was. This video would not be the same without his beautiful work. Thank you, Mark! My appreciation for you is greater than my capacity for words.
Have a blessed day,
Angie
